Welcome! I’m a doctoral student in UC Irvine’s School of Education with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Technology (LLT).
My research interests focus on the use of instructional technologies to improve student literacy. My research interests stem from my experience as a high school and community college English teacher and an appreciation for the meaningful role that teachers play in student learning.
My passion for improving the lives of at-risk students initially lead me to a career in counseling for the Job Corps program. During this experience, I realized that through teaching high school English, I could proactively impact the lives of more students.
I currently work on a project examining how Visual Syntactic Text Formatting (VSTF) can improve the reading and writing skills of middle school students.
I am active in two research labs at UC Irvine, including the Digital Learning Lab.
